I am worried that a 218 rank out of 782 is not good enough. How high does my rank have to be to get into a good college? I am thinking about going to Georgia Tech to study bussiness management. I am also taking 2 AP classes next year(LA and World History). Am I on the right track?

Colleges base thier decisions on many things not just rank. SATs etc, etc. Most colleges publish the various data describing the students that entered the school. Go or call the school but be ready for a back up plan. i.e more than one school.

It isn't great, although I know of people who go to Georgia Tech who are in that category. You're smart to take AP classes. You should take the most challenging classes you can get into. I hear they look at that as much as your GPA or class ranking. After all, it's easy to get a 4.0 if you take fluff. Get the best SAT you can, and fill your application with other things, too. Tech seems to like people who successfully manage to hold down a job while succeeding in school. If you can start your own small business, that's even better. In general, most universities like well-rounded people who do things outside of school. They seem to like athletes a lot, even if they don't play for the school. If you aren't involved in school athletics, you might want to take up something independently. Avoid taking up a lot of last minute activities just to beef up your application---I think they see right through that. A few well-chosen interests or passions will play better. Good luck. If you do make it into Tech, expect to work your tookus off, but by all reports, it is worth the effort!
